How do you decide on which car to rent?

Predominately by price. I do not need a large car to accomodate my body size, so mid-size is the largest I will ever require. I rent cars for business travel only, so I don''t need anything oversized or specialized to accomodate a large amount of baggage or additional people. I am more concerned with economy and gas mileage, so smaller cars are more appropriate to my needs. Also, as a business expense, I like to economize in any way that I can. I DO make sure that my rental vehicle has cruise control, so that is a consideration in the selection of my vehicle, though most vehicles at the lower rental rates have cruise control as a standard.
